Healing Prayer Training

Resurrection in West Chicago has long been known for its Healing Prayer ministry, and people from many other churches attend its Praise and Healing Prayer services at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday. There are several training resources on this page. Be sure to look all the way through.

What We Believe About Healing Prayer

We believe I Corinthians 12:7-11, which says that God gives gifts to His people according to His will, to accomplish His purposes. In prayer ministry we see Him give the gifts of wisdom and knowledge, discernment, prophecy, faith, mercy, healing and tongues as they are needed.  We pray for God to intervene in specific circumstances, but out guiding focus is to pray for the things that the Word tells us are priorities with God; that we would be one with Him and with each other as Jesus prayed in John 17:21; that we would know the full measure of God's love for us and be filled with the fullness of His life and power as Paul prayed in Ephesians 6:19; and that God would give us complete understanding of what He wants to do in our lives and make us wise with spiritual wisdom, Colossians 1:9. These and many more are rich promises of spiritual blessings given to us in Scripture, and we pray boldly for these riches in each other's lives.

The New Testament pattern is that God healed people's bodies, minds, and emotions in order to demonstrate His love and power and to free them to be 'all that Christ Jesus saved us for and wants us to be,' Philippians 3:12. He is still doing that today. Our job is to ask, as He instructed us to do in John 16:23-24.

Resurrection
Prayer Ministry Covenant

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.  For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
- 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (NIV)
