If God were to speak to you face-to-face at this very moment about the importance of being involved with His purposes in this world, but to do so would mean being deeply committed to a local church, what would your reaction be?
I don’t know to whom I am speaking at the moment, but if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, I need to ask you, beloved: What is your relationship to the Body of Christ? Would you say it is cold, lukewarm, or have you fully committed yourself to a church with all your heart? If you say you are a follower of Jesus and your answer to this question is “cold” or “lukewarm,” I want to suggest that it might be time for you to seriously reconsider that relationship, and rediscover the Church of the living God. Why?
What if, from God’s perspective, being part of a local church is not an option because fellowship is primary to our calling in Christ? Not secondary, an afterthought, or wishful thinking, but primary in God’s mind as the main objective and purpose for the local church (1 Cor. 1:9; 1 John 1:3).
What if, from God’s perspective, you are incomplete and unable to mature in your relationship with Him and as a disciple of Jesus, without a committed relationship to the Body of Christ (Eph. 4:1-16, 25; Rom. 12:5)? It’s true! Finding true fellowship is vital to your life in and with Christ. Without real connection to a local church, your fellowship with God will suffer loss in many ways. Beloved, we need one another!
So, won’t you please consider this as you come to a decision about what to do with your relationship to the Church going forward from here? It’s important! And by the way, let me remind you in case you’ve forgotten: Whether you know it or not, the truth is, you are the Church, and we who are gathered in His name are not complete because you are not with us!
If you are hungry to grow deeper in your knowledge of Jesus and need a place to call home, Rez might be an answer to your prayer. Please join us for worship this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and find out more about us. We welcome you!
